This conspiracism makes my flesh creep -- and it recently did real damage to our local anti-war group. One of the more vigorous, competent, and well-like members of the group adopted the theory, and 'took advantage' (not how he saw it of course) of there being nothing scheduled for our April meeting to show a video of some TV program hustling the shit. That meeting was the smallest meeting we have had in over a year. Jan & I tried our best to be both sympathetic to him and to show what a deadend the theory was. Sad. He has now dropped off the group's board, and probably won't be around much hereafter. A real loss to the group.
I can't think of anything that helps Bush & Co. and the Warmakers more than this damnable Conspiracy Theory. It really damages the anti-war movement. To think that well-intentioned people would be contributing to protracting the slaughter in Iraq. It makes me physically cringe.
