CHANDIGARH: It's 'Balle Balle' time for Sikhs in the US. And this time, it's for city-born Gurdeep Singh Pall. Chunnu to family and friends, Gurdeep has become the first Sikh to reach the top echelons of Microsoft.

He has been appointed corporate vice-president Microsoft, Real Time Collaboration Group, based at Microsoft corporate headquarters in Redmond.

He is responsible for developing Microsoft's strategy in the Real Time Collaboration space, including the emerging Integrated Communications and VoIP areas.

The pay package? Mum's the word from Gurdeep, but sources in the city said that it's over $1 million per year.

Speaking to TNN exclusively from the US, Gurdeep named Bill Gates as his inspiration, especially after he got to work with Gates on some projects.
