"We can have long discussions on what negative consequences this victory [over Nazi Germany] had for the Baltic countries, but one can not deny that the attitude of the SS troops on the Nazi occupied territories was inhuman to all enslaved people," he told Interfax, in a comment on the procession commemorating the Latvian SS
legion, which took place in Riga on Wednesday.
Lazar said he was shocked by the news that the procession had taken place and that those who attempted to block it were arrested.
"The most terrifying thing is the fact that this happened in anticipation of the 60th anniversary of the Soviet victory over Nazi Germany," he said.
