George Gilder noted in the Doug Ireland blog entry wasn't always such a loon. The late leftish economist Robert Lekachman who knew Gilder in the 70's, said in a review of, "Wealth and Poverty, " in The Nation that Gilder back then was active in the Ripon Society Edited their Ripon Forum.. The Riponites were the vestiges of liberal Republicans ala Javits, Charles "Mac" Mathias, John Lindsey.
