Joanna:

My guess is that this list is about 90% men. So, I don't really expect much sympathy or understanding.

==================

Actually, I'm not so sure about this.

I did a search of the archives and I think there's a fair amount of support for your view of prostitution. Yes, Miles has raised a series of challenges but those appear to be based on subtle, theoretical grounds as opposed to a male-centric lack of sympathy for (or understanding of) your opinion.

In fact, some of the strongest objections seem to come from women. For example, last year, when Doug forwarded one of your posts on this very topic to Tracy Quan she responded this way:

**This is an extreme point of view and interesting for that very reason but ... hard for me to relate.**

And this year, a similar outcome when posts were forwarded to the folks at $pread Mag. You can read Raven Strega's response here --

I've yet to read anything even remotely as strongly worded as Quan's and Strega's statements from listmembers who've raised objections to some or all of your critique of sex work. Although...Yoshie and Grace have, if I'm interpreting their contributions correctly, also come out pretty strongly against your POV on this.

So perhaps gender is not as reliable a predictor of acceptance or rejection of your opinion on this matter as it seems.
