Which, in my neck of the woods, translates into about 34-37k, according to salary.com. A dinky little house in SF costs, last I knew (1997), $250k. It's a whole buttload more expensive now, no doubt. So, yeah, nurses are proles. So is Joanna. So are you. I don't think there's a person on this list who isn't. give it a rest.

Finally, you keep missing _her_ point. Even if you want to say it's about money, she was talking about the hierarchy of command and control, what's considered professional labor, what's considered menial etc. etc. In the hiearchy she described, RNs are proles. They do some of the most difficult, dirty, gut-wrenching, heart-wrenching, thankless work, and are there by your beside whenever you need them. they often know about your case--what's going on with you than a doc does. yet, docs will treat nursing staff as peons. They wear scrubs and work shoes--on their feet most of the day. They get screamed at, puked on, pinched, slapped, flashed, spit on, poked, prodded, snotted on, you name it.

Were unionized auto-workers making $50k/year back in the day any less prole because their unions, like nurses unions, managed to megotiate good wages and better working conditions. The typical nruse in a hospital, btw, runs around for 12 hours shifts, the bulk of it on her feet.

Prole? Oh. Yeah. It's one of those white collar desk jockey jobs. Sure.
