CB: It is not guaranteed that a second draft of Communism,( if you mean by that a second "draft" of actual revolutionary practice , not just theory) will be better. But it doesn't seem to me that humanity has much choice but to have a second go at socialism.

Yes, I see Cuba and Venezuela as movement that way. Even China (and Viet Nam) despite its swallowing a big capitalist elephant, I don't entirely disregard the CPC's claims that the long term aim is to use the economic development from biting the capitalist apple to build the necessary precursors to an economically strong socialism.
