[lbo-talk] Re: Vive La France! - Kremlin headache, Kremlin opportunity

Last month the Kremlin wanted to engage all of Europe moving forward, with the Baltic states being their usual pain in the lower backside.

Passage of the European Treaty in France would have been good for Russia - dealing with one "unitary-political" state. Now, Russia is left with dealing with Old and New Europe - both with different agendas and different problems.

That said, Russia is now presented with new European opportunity - divide and kiss up.

With the EU politically at drift, Russia will certainly continue to please France, Germany and Italy (with indifference to the UK).

If the Baltic states want to keep up their rants, their EU friends in Old Europe won't be there for them now ...

I'll probably write this up tomorrow....

My spin... the Treaty of Versailles turned on its head.
