Lists do not caricature anyone, people do. So if you meant to ask if I believe that some of my views were caricatured by some people who responded to them on this list, the answer is yes. Most of that was actually expected, since I am well aware what to say to push some people's hot button.

You can see what you want, indeed. I do believe that the American culture - or perhaps its pop version - is a caricature appealing mainly to unrefined juvenile tastes, and that opinion is shared by a great number of people in the world, some of whom made names for themselves (cf. deTocqueville, Mencken, or Adorno). So I'd rather stay in that company than that of Martin Who? who thinks otherwise.
BTW, you are passing a judgment on somebody whom you do not know, so I presume you consider yourself a rather worldly person comparing to this provincial who visited or lived in merely 25 or so countries, speaks fluently only two languages and a third with difficulty, and has only three post graduate degrees, one from a foreign country. So what is your claim to worldliness?
