I've argued over and over again on this list (and elsewhere) that it is incorrect to label the Bush administration (and similar political currents) as "fascist," but recently stumbled on what I think is a better description of what it is we have: a "Creeping Police State." The danger of that is, I think, very real, and instead of empty squeaks of "Fascism" we ought to be analyzing that danger, and speculating on strategy and tactics in resisting it.
