Where I grew up (in Virginia, where everything is named after Stonewall Jackson or Robert E. Lee, if it isn't named after Washington, Madison or Jefferson, but mainly Jackson & Lee, of whom the South is a whole lot prouder than a few mere founding Presidents) a Burning of Atlanta day would have been welcomed as a Good Idea. And a statue of Lincoln would have been divisive -- as indeed proved to be the case when someone proposed one for Richmond to commerate Lincoln's postwar visit to the former capital of the Confederacy.
