On crime stats (which no one disputes?) is this true?

From Thomas Sowell, "Black Rednecks and White Liberals, " pg. 30, "nearly half of all murder victims on America were black and that 94% of them were killed by other blacks." Footnote refers back to Dinesh d"Souza, "The End of Racism, " pg.503.

Most murderers and rapists victimize within their own racial group, neighborhood, set of acquaintances, correct?

A while ago, Doug posted a WSJ op-ed piece by Sowell laying out his thesis that "white trash" predominently Scots-Irish underclass behavioral defects noted by many observers of the antebellum South such as Olmstead and deTocqueville were adopted by the black underclass. Listening to a recent Talk of the Nation debate, "Race, Poverty and Katrina, " http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=4859257 between Black lefty cult stud Tricia Rose

from my alma mater, Black neo-con John McWhorter , white liberal David Shipler, white neo-con Douglas Besharov from the AEI, and Juan Williams, reminded me, as if anyone needed reminding of the contentiousness over these race, poverty, crime, culture, "personal responsibility, " vs. larger economic structures, yada yadadebates ( http://search.lbo-talk.org/search/swish.cgi?query=wotjek+underclass+boombox+hip-hop+overclass+vulgarians+barbarians+heh&submit=Search%21&metaname=swishdefault&sort=unixdate ) Stanley Elkins on slavery, his analogy to Nazi concentration camps and "infantilizing, ", William Styron, Nat Turner, Black nationalist writers polemics vs. Styron at the time (Genovese wrote an essay on the controversy, see, "In Red and Black: Marxian Explorations..., " the LSU Press edition has autobiographical reflections post-New Left from the rascal), the Moynihan Report from '65 (see the Lee Rainwater edited collection on it and white lefty William Ryan, "Blaming the Victim."), , "Time on the Cross, http://www.eh.net/bookreviews/library/weiss.shtml by Fogel (in the YCL of the CPUSA in the period just before Genovese was, edited their student magazine, "New Foundations, " see the reprint in the Greenwood Press series, "Radical Periodicals in the U.S.") and Engerman, answered by Herbert Gutman...
