Doug, it is really a question of whether you fundamentally support the 'idea' of community radio or whether you are always looking for reasons to rain on its parade. Perhaps you should not be at WBAI if you don't support the essential idea behind it.
As to work, yes, I work (for the man) like everybody else, in fact I generally work 60-70 hour weeks. Most people on the KPFA LSB are fully-employed busy, accomplished people - some are lucky enough to have some extra time on their hands, but I'm certainly not one of them. Generally fully engaged busy people are more likely to take on engaging extra-curricular activities and have large cranial capacity for minutiae that lesser beings find overwhelming.
If you've been following Pacifica - or Public Radio in general - for 15 years, and you don't understand the role of Community Advisory Boards, then you've obviously still got a lot to learn. From what I can tell, you hardly seem to be able to distinguish between WBAI and the rest of the network.
Interestingly, you will moan and groan about the problems at WBAI - but guess who is trying to actually do something to solve those problems - yours truly!
I think you need to study up on what is really going on at Pacifica.
