Carrol:

With all due respect to the Atomic Scientists, why should this make any difference? Until the U.S., UK, France, & Israel destroy their nuclear weapons, the more other nations that have them the better.

===============

Agreed.

Non-proliferation, never a particularly honest pursuit on the part of governments, has fallen even farther from an already low perch to become a simple declaration by 'nuclear club' members that aspiring powers must be prohibited from acquiring atomic ordinance because they're 'bad' nations.

So, the open secret of Israel's nukes gathers comparatively little comment while Tehran's efforts to create parity are a cause for shock, alarm and on again, off again threats of military intervention.

This isn't a non-proliferation program but an effort to preserve advanced weapons hegemony, very thinly veiled as a moral campaign.
