Yes, his house was searched by the Gestapo and he was banned from writing in 1938. Marble Cliffs is a scathing satirical sideswipe of the Hitler regime.

Incidentally, the German government gave Junger free electricity as a birthday present when he turned 100 around 1995 or so.
