BTW I started reading Gunter Grass' "My Century" yesterday. That part of it corresponding to the WWI years is actually a hypothetical meeting and series of dinners between Junger and Remarque (of All Quiet on the Western Front fame) in the 1960s.
It's quiet brilliant.
