Micron opens 250-million-dollar new facility in Singapore
Micron Technology, the America- based supplier of advanced semiconductor solutions, opened its new facility worth 250 million US dollars in Singapore on Friday.
Channel NewsAsia report said that the new facility, which covers an area of about 265,000 square feet (about 23,850 square meters), houses state-of-the-art equipment for assembling and test high-density, high-speed memory components and modules.
Having been Micron's main assembly and test operation out of the United States, the Singapore site processes memory devices produced at the multinational company's fabrication plants in the United States, Europe and Asia.
While Singapore regards the investment as a booster to its semiconductor industry, Micron expects the expansion of its business in the city state to help meet the growing demand for semiconductors in Asia.
