It sounds like one of those classic virus hoaxes: "It's been confirmed by CNN." I just looked at CNN's web report and they said "thousands." Reuters also says "thousands." I spoke with Liza on the phone a little while ago and she said that the initial turnout was disappointing but the crowd had grown in the last couple of hours. In any case, 600,000 sounds wildly exaggerated.
