-I'm not going to defend Chinese labor practices, but a lot of the -critics act as if they're unaware of a long history in this country -of Yellow Perilism. It can get creepy.
What gets creepy is folks mindlessly using past abuses of Chinese workers to justify sanctioning abuses of those same workers today. "Imperialist." "Racist." This is the left defense of Chinese and allied global capitalist exploitation. Those elites are getting mind-bogglingly wealthy at the expense of both Chinese and other workers around the world, but anyone fighting it is attacked by those who are still playing pretend that Chinese is somehow a socialist opponent of the US.
As for Yellow Perilism - it overwhelming about Chinese immigration not trade. Most labor folks are fighting hard against anti-immigrant policies, so the analogy to the past is very poor.
