RUNAWAY, Alice Munro's recent collection of short stories appeals to the bittersweet realities of love and marriage. For a longer, more tender romp, try THE GREAT FIRE by Shirley Hazzard. It has a very young woman/lover in its pages playing a major role, but it's a bit long.
