I actually saw MacBird done on stage once.  It is of its time.... I have
changed my mind about Johnson though since I have seen it.  My attitude is
too bad he was a war criminal because he would have made a great Tiberius
Gracchus.  But he was not a Macbeth.  I thought Macbird was savagely well
written.....  and Macdonald's evaluation of it was not bad at all.....
