If it's 1 million "hits," as opposed to 1 million "unique visitors," the Kos audience may be smaller than the legend has it -- for all you know, it could be, say, 20,000 people coming back several times a day requesting graphic-rich pages ("Modern Web pages are composed of multiple elements, including external CSS, graphics, external JavaScript, Java applets, etc. When a page is requested, it generates a hit for each linked element in the access log. That said, a blog can be marketable, if you look good and talk about sex:

Ms. Pacheco parlayed that inquisitiveness into a best seller, "The Scorpion's Sweet Poison," that has made her a sort of sexual guru. A mixture of autobiography and how-to manual, her book has sold more than 100,000 copies since it was published late last year, and has just been translated into Spanish.

At book signings, Ms. Pacheco said, "80 percent of the public is women, which I didn't expect at all," because most of the readers of her blog appeared to be men, including customers who "wanted to see how I had rated their performance."
