brilliant piece of analysis. thanks for forwarding, michael. fyi, for those interested in this piece, weizman helped put together a terrific book: A Civilian Occupation (Verso, 2003.)

it looks at how israeli civil planning and architecture innovated new forms of domination, both in the territories, and within israel itself. emphasis of course is on the spacial, and its extremely pomo in its methodological style.

i fear the book has been terribly overlooked. worth picking up for anyone interested in the arab-israeli conflict looking for an example of how it ought to be dealt with in terms of modern critical theory.
