Imperialism or anti-imperialism isn't the issue; there's no doubt that everyone in the American r.c. is pro-imperialist. The question is what kind of imperialism. Invading Iraq has been very bad for the empire - as Henry Hyde put it yesterday, "We need to find a way to get out of Iraq that doesn't cover us with dishonor." Not an easy task, but I'm guessing that Hyde represents the thinking of the governing class, and they need to make Bush come around.
