I'd say that there three things de-couple actual labor time from socially necessary labour time, as determined by exchange for use:

1) Technical conditions of production

2) Technical conditions of consumption

3) Laughing chance - probability.

Technical conditions of consumption aren't aften considered, but that's not realistic - information, distribution, education, art and politics all alter the conditions of consumption. Nothing has knowable value when it's produced, only when it's consumed, therefore there are a lot of activities other than production which can create value and therefore profit.
