You guys, this is just awful. A U.S. Green Party type with a Heinrich-Böll-Stiftung stipendium might have reasons to spout nonsense like this, but not the two of you.

Conditions in the United States must be truly hopeless to induce the sort of uninformed Europhilia paraded on this list.

Look, you can love French Trotskyists, Italian Communists, English pop groups, German automobiles, or Danish cinema to your heart's content. None of this should be confused with support for Europe as a political entity, or any of its constituent states, all of which are subject to the same responsibility of guaranteeing the framework for capital valorization of any other advanced capitalist nation-state.

You don't even have to read particularly sophisticated academic studies. For two advanced German speakers/readers such as yourselves, regularly perusing the tabloid Junge Welt <http://www.jungewelt.de> will give you a nice, compact summary of European capitalist malfeasance on a daily basis. Look pass the Stalinoid rhetoric, and there is some meat there.

Chris Doss correctly chides people for making uninformed judgements concerning Putin without correct information. List members should also heed that advice when counterposing nice, altruistic Europe against the evil, capitalist United States.

The Thirty Years War? English colonialism? Belgium in the Congo? Auschwitz? The Kosovo "intervention"? Afghanistan?

Stop drinking the Habermas kool-aid.
