just to clarify, it was an error on my part to use language that made it seem that this is intentional.

my other guess is this:

1. people don't know what they are doing, so they look at other job ads. 2. you don't want to give away the keys to the store. that is, position open ads are sources of information about how a company does business. the least detail given the better since it's not just potential candidates who read the description but other employees at the company as well as competitors.

(note: when you see people operating differently, it is almost invariably because it is a very small business)
