The problem with the modern capitalist society exzactly arises due to this
belief that uncontrolled desire as the mover of progress and that all
desires can be fulfilled and that the ability of nature to fulfill all
desires is again unlimited. All these assumptions are beyond a certain
level are farce and false. Religion and rational thought decry this
tendency So growth needs to be redined. Socialism tries to define this in a
humanistic tradition. It asserts the individual freedom is a factor a free
society and not absolute. Gandhi stands for this definition. Tolstoy, Henry
Thoreu and even Emerson stand for this. When you apply this corection o the
modern society it is no longer capitalistic.
