From an epidemological POV, though, isn't it about preventative medicine? If you take care of kids when they are young, they are less likely to be denied the treatment they need for the relatively minor things they need and, thus, have fewer health problems as adults.

And, of course, kids shouldn't be blamed for being born to their loser parents who aren't smart enough to find jobs with insurance an' all that.
