Speed = distance/time

R= current speed 5r = boat speed T = time

Travel speed downstream = 5r+r = 375/(t+1) Travel speed upstrean = 5r-r=225/t R= 375/(6t+6) R=225/4t 225/4t = 375/(6t+6)

Solve for T and then plug in T into R=225/t to determine R and then the speed of the boat = 5r.
