12 arrested for attempt on Musharraf's life: Sherpao

ISLAMABAD: Law enforcement agencies have arrested 12 men from Kohlu
allegedly involved in an attempt to kill President Pervez Musharraf and they
are being interrogated, said Federal Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan
Sherpao on Wednesday.

He was apparently referring to an incident two weeks ago when rockets were
fired in Kohlu while the president was visiting the city.

Talking to reporters while visiting a tent village here, the interior
minister said that the detainees were being interrogated for their
involvement in anti-state activities. The Balochistan Liberation Army and
other "miscreants" will be severely dealt with, he said, adding that no one
will be allowed to halt the ongoing development projects in the province.
Sherpao said no army operation was being carried out in Balochistan and only
law enforcement agencies were taking action against miscreants.

"No woman or child was killed in the operation against the miscreants at
Kohlu," he said.

The paramilitary operation will continue in tribal areas to flush out
foreign miscreants taking refuge there, he added.
