Father of LSD celebrating 100th birthday

^^^^ CB: Since the 60's take on LSD was as part of mind/intellect expansion experiments, seems significant that one of the discoverers of DNA was using LSD at time of discovery, a fact only made public in the last year or so. That's one point for Timothy Leary's side in the debate.

^^^^ Yes, that's where most people first saw it. And since it appeared the debate has erupted (as it does every few years) about whether Leary, Kesey and Owsley were right to mass proselytize LSD or whether Huxley was right, that if LSD had been kept the reserve of a few intellectuals, scientists and artists that it would not have been made illegal and could have played a greater creative and therapeutic role.

^^^^^ CB: Of course, the last thing the powers-that-be would want is wholesale expansion of thinking by masses of people. LSD probably stimulates thought.
