Anti-intellectualism is one thing and anti-credentialism (for lack of a better word) is quite another. I've served some time as a buck private in the credentialling sector, and it isn't at all clear to me that the kids are being given anything as substantial as a life raft. There's a certain winnowing that goes on, which may well have some predictive value about a person's docility and willingness under employment. Beyond that, the claims that the credentiallers are wont to make for themselves -- crescat scientia, vita excolatur, etc. -- seem laughably exaggerated, to say the least.
