It's a measure of how low Hitch has sunk that he should now like BHL, a lightweight held down only by his willingness to be a vulgar ideological hack, a writer with integrity, style, or brains (such as Hitch once had in spades). Surely the old Hitch demolished BHL somewhere?

Rohatyn, well, what do you expect.

In contrast, the other "new philosopher" (i.e., French political writer who belately discovered the Gulag and decided, with tremendous originality, that it followed from Stalinist repression that communism is evil -- why didn't I think of that? Oh, because it's a non sequiter, right) of any note, Andre Glucksmann, was/is pretty thoughtful and wrote some stuff that is still worth reading.
