This is going to piss off the Zionists & the right. Also surprising in today's NYT: a full page devoted to Arab victims of Israel's adventure, and a rather critical Maureen Dowd column. But Gerald Seib writes in today's WSJ that the 1982 invasion of Lebanon was met with much more criticism in the US - so much so that Reagan pressed Begin & Sharon to pull back, unlike now, when the House passed an endorsement resolution 410-8. I don't remember 1982 well enough to know whether Seib was right. Anyone else?
Also...today's NYT reports a Maariv poll showing 95% Israeli support for the military actions. Isn't the Arab pop of Israel something like 15-20%? Are they not polled, or do they support the gov in large numbers?
