Actually, there were huge pogroms in Ajerbaijan against Armenians in the late 80s-early 90s, which I wrote about before here: http://mailman.lbo-talk.org/pipermail/lbo-talk/Week-of-Mon-20060424/036810.html . In Russia they tend to be viewed as crafty traders.
I was told by a guy who was in the Russian Army in Chechnya in the First War that the mujaheedin believe that if a knife has been used to kill a Jew or an Armenian, it has been defiled by unclean blood and must be thrown away. Ah, those lovable mujaheedin.
