Many people across practically every known culture have practiced monogamy.
Many people across practically every known culture have engaged in
promiscuity and/or infidelity. The conflicting tendencies to stay and stray
are strong within most of us (again, across virtually all known cultures).
This is why sex, romance, and love give rise to vast amounts of, well,
conflict--or did you think the messiness of sexual relations was unique to
Western culture?
