Evidently they don't think so. We have a lot of rich classical traditions in the West, but I doubt a TV at a local restaurant would be showing Balanchine ballets, or its CD player playing Beethoven string quartets. Besides, a lot of our Western pop & dance are pretty good. And maybe a lot of "Eastern" cultures get tired of playing the retro-exotics for alienated Westerners and want to join the commodity- ridden high-tech world so many of us disdain.
