Authors I have been influenced by such as Michael Heinrich, Robert Kurz, and Moishe Postone suggest the opposite, that the law of value is a specific way of determining proportions of labor in capitalism. What is trans-historical is not the law of value, which is specific to capitalism, but rather the need to allocate labor across different parts of society.
"Value" is the form that labor takes in capitalism, not an eternal thing.
