You see a leftist or two driving an SUV. That makes me wonder: how do you know they're leftists? If so, what kind are they? And, most importantly, how representative are they? Finding one or two people who do something doesn't tell you much about group behavior. The meaningful way to talk about this is to compare the subpopulation "leftists" with some kind of broad average. Most people I know would recoil at driving an SUV, and I suspect that people on the broadly defined left are far less likely to drive SUVs than people on the right. Industry research sorta supports this. Maybe life in California is different.
