----- Original Message ----- From: "Chuck" <chuck at mutualaid.org> -Is it now time for good ole ChuckO to say "see, I told you so"? -As some of you know, I've been a persistent critic of ANSWER and UFPJ -from the start of ANSWER in September 2001. -For my outspoken criticism, I was rewarded with a smear campaign by -ANSWER, which spread rumors about me personally, and used proxies -generally to attack anarchists and other ANSWER critics.

Something Chuck and I shared -- and we both got attacked by the same folks for that criticism. I was basically driven out of the National Lawyers Guild for criticizing ANSWER.

But folks thought who was talking at the podium was irrelevant and wouldn't have any effect over the long-term, but of course people aren't stupid. They actually care about the substance of politics and when the substance is crazy and sectarian and repetitive, people stop showing up.

And the mass immigration rights rallies in the last few days show that the problem is not that people won't show up in massive numbers for a cause. But the antiwar leadership was just completely uninspiring.
