What success? The Dens only won the popular Presidential vote in 1992 and 1996 because of Perot. On the Congressional level, Under New Dem leadership, the Dems definitively became the minority in 1994 - losing control of the House of Representatives, which they had - with a couple of breaks- dominated since 1932 and the Senate as well, Electorally they have never regained control of either chamber, evein when Clinton was re-elected.. In California, taking a centrist tack ensured that a Governor, Gray Davis, got humiliated by being recalled as did DLCer Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamonte, who got beat out by the Terminator in the race to succeed Davis, all in an overwhelmingly blue state. SR
