He may well have done, but Margaret Beckett has been made Foreign Secretary in his place and her record of having restored Export Credits for the Iranian regime to buy arms when she was Secretary of State for Trade and Industry may well prove a wee bit embarrassing. Beckett also expressed some doubts about the Iraq war (before voting for it), which Straw did not. There again, her hostility to nuclear power-based solutions to carbon emissions may well stand in her favour when it comes to being bellicose about Iran's programme.
