Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong, on behalf of the Vietnamese Government and people, expressed thanks for Australia's assistance in HIV/AIDS control in Vietnam since 1993, while meeting Australian Ambassador for HIV/AIDS Annmaree O' Keeffe in Hanoi on November 24.
Deputy PM Trong briefed his guest about Vietnam's difficulties in the task, especially poverty and people's low awareness on the impacts of drugs, and HIV/AIDS.
Ambassador O' Keeffe praised Vietnam's policies and legal documents on fighting HIV/AIDS. She said the country had achieved a lot in this field over the past three years, creating agood foundation for the future. The Ambassador stated that Australia was ready to help Vietnam continue its efforts to limit the spread of HIV/AIDS and mitigate the aftermaths more effectively. (VNA)
