NEW YORK, Nov 28 (Reuters) - Pratt & Whitney, the jet engine unit of United Technologies Corp. (UTX.N: Quote, Profile, Research), said on Tuesday it signed an agreement with China Eastern Airlines (600115.SS: Quote, Profile, Research) to create an engine overhaul facility in Shanghai.
As part of the deal, China Eastern awarded Pratt & Whitney a 15-year contract to maintain the airline's fleet of CFM56 engines. Financial terms were not disclosed.
CFM engines are made by a joint-venture between General Electric Co. (GE.N: Quote, Profile, Research) and France's Safran (SAF.PA: Quote, Profile, Research).
