I don't know about him in particular, but I think there is a lot of play-acting in the "European avant-garde toying with fascism" movement. That's the case I think with Laibach and with Dugin in his previous National Bolshevik incarnation.
(Just for laughs, I recommend looking at that old 1994 Playboy interview with Zhirinovsky. He's got the interviewer totally suckered into believing his schtick, completely fucking with her, and she totally buys everything. It's quite funny.)
