Ye Olde English, more than Gothic, I would say, speaking as a one-time palaeographer. Chosen, no doubt, in reference to "blackletter law".
I spent some time at the University of Chicago, and they love to dress up there in the borrowed garments of bygone ages. For the Straussians, it's the Platonic toga and, from time to time, the odd Socratic boy. For the English department, it's Aristotle. For the B-school, it's Adam Smith (though I suspect he's more referred to than read there).
