It's more anecdotal and less analytical than Patrick MacDonnel's article in the LAT last week, but in some ways even more remarkably despairing for a bellwether newspaper. By halfway down, it reads like something out of In These Times. By the end, he says civil war is a polite term for what this is.
The title comes in response to his question to an Iraqi: "Do you think things would be worse if the Americans left?"
