I think that Vonnegut was probably my first introduction as a teenager to
serious adult mainstream fiction. I can recall being in 7th grade and
reading lots of science fiction. I picked up a copy of Player Piano, one
of his early works, and I remember being challenged by it.
I also happen to be a huge fan of the movie version of Slaughterhouse 5. I
believe that it was directed by the same guy who directed The World
According to Garp.
I will really miss the Mark Twain of our age.
