This is a BIG, BIG laugh.

My first husband who is black was pulled over every single day when he used to work as a handyman in Beverly Hills. That's after he graduated from UCLA Phi Beta Kappa and after he wrote his fourth novel. He just didn't look right in Beverly Hills. Get it?

My second husband who is white would sometimes be pulled over for stupid shit and he would get hysterical and verbally abuse the cops, saying things like "Why don't you get a fucking job?" " Why the fuck don't you leave people alone?" and on, and on, and on -- completely out of control. This happened many times while I was there, sitting in the passanger seat. He didn't get frisked, he didn't get taken in....nothing happened. The cops would just back off and let him be.

What do you think would have happened if my first husband had acted like that?

Hmmmm?

Joanna
